The steps
The exact sequence, in order.

Click Add new track, then MIDI: the track loads the Wavetable synth.
- 02
Select the track, then Cmd + K to open the on-screen keyboard.
- 03
Play a few notes on your computer keys.
- 04
Arm the track (A), click Record, play, then Space to stop.

No sound? Check that the MIDI track is selected.
Worth knowing
What the video does not hide from you.
Your browser may ask for access to your MIDI devices: you don't need it to play on your computer keyboard.
